Our culture has found it difficult with drug abuse for many years. People from all walks of life have been impacted, and the number is growing. Many adolescents and young adults are now becoming addicted to alcohol and drugs. Addiction starts with infrequent use, with people saying things like, "We just decided to try it" or "it's just a one-time thing." It becomes a habit for them to claim to know what they're doing and to be in command. This pernicious habit, however, spreads quickly and affects every individual's life.
Whatever has been done is irreversible. Families should focus on damage control rather than criticizing the addict for his or her disease (yes, drug addiction is an illness).
We distinguish ourselves from other Nasha Mukti Kendras in Udhampur by emphasizing comprehensive healing with minimal medical intervention. They follow the 12-step program spearheaded by Alcoholics Anonymous. Our 12-Step program gives this journey a spiritual dimension. Counselors are sustainable approaches and understanding of the members' problems. The goal here is not simply to help them quit. Its goal is to help them detoxify their bodies and souls.
Regular yoga and meditation classes are offered at our Nasha Mukti Kendra in Udhampur. In daily thought sessions, members can discuss and share their feelings, which are followed by tournaments and entertainment activities. Participants are also taken on supervised outings to keep in touch with the outside world.
